How to Apply for a Campership

family camp

Camperships are available for any Camp Reed program - Mini Camp, Traditional Camp, CIT, and JC programs. We advise you to complete the campership process before registering your child for camp, as camperships are not guaranteed. The process is as follows:

  1. Download and print the YMCA Financial Assistance Application. Complete and return to Connie Powers at the YMCA Corporate Office (1126 N Monroe, Spokane WA 99201). The second page of the application includes a graph of your family's potential scholarship percentage level depending on household size and gross household income; the greatest discount you can receive would be 35 percent. All scholarships are good through April 30, 2013 and are valid for any YMCA program—Camp Reed, day camp, swimming lessons, youth sports, etc. Connie Powers should respond within three weeks with your scholarship approval/denial.
  2. After receiving a scholarship through the Financial Assistance application, you may register your child for Camp Reed or apply for additional "Send a Kid" campership funds.
  3. If you would like to apply for additional campership funds beyond the YMCA Financial Assistance, we do have "Send a Kid" camperships available. To apply for these additional funds, contact Meredith "Metric" Coleman at mcoleman@ymcaspokane.org. Include a brief letter explaining your family's financial situation, how you think your child would benefit from attending Camp Reed and the best phone number where Metric can reach you. These camperships are usually only valid for Weeks 1, 2 or 3 of Traditional Camp or any session of our other programs.
  4. Your campership letter will be reviewed by our scholarship committee; notice will be given via phone within one week.
